IntroductionIt looks like Dell finally gave up making the bulky laptops they used to. The Dell Inspiron 1525 is a good and thin laptop with a 15.4-Inch Screen. Let’s take a closer look and see what this machine has to offer.
Design
Dell has mostly made bulky laptops except for the XPS M1330 and XPS M1530 that was released in 2007. Now Dell is back again in 2008 With a new laptop in the Inspiron series. The Inspiron 1525 is small and compact but the glossy inlaid commotion pattern just looks awful in my eyes, but there are also people that find it attractive.
The keyboard and the touch bad seem good to me. The touch pad is responsive and they keyboard is solid, the only negative thing here is that the keyboard got a pretty loud clicking sound compared to other laptops. Above they keyboard you will also find a series of touch-sensitive media buttons with blue LED backlights. The built-in HDMI is a very nice thing to have for those that want digital video output, S-Video and VGA are also there for the more old-fashioned approach to video output. You will also get features and facilities like FireWire, four USB ports, a media card reader, two headphone jacks, microphone jack, ExpressCard slot and Ethernet port.
Screen
This machine comes with a 15.4-inch widescreen XGA 1280 x 800 resolution with a matte or glossy look, the choice is up to you. The screen is overall good also from all angels and it will give you a good movie experience.
Performance
The Inspiron 1525 is meant for a more mainstream buyer looking for good multimedia and productivity features from a notebook, and not cutting edge 3D performance. This is not a gaming laptop and with the Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 you won’t be able to play many games. However the 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo T7250 processor and the 2GB DDR2-667 SDRAM makes it a great laptop for running programs like photoshop and other “heavy” programs.
Conclusion
This is a very good low budget laptop with a good design and a sold performance. This is not a gaming machine but an everyday family or work machine.

Dell Inspiron 1525 is my personal suggestion for middle range laptops.Great features at very good price. And look is also good.And it also comes in 8 different colours.
Nice laptop here. Seems well priced for the amount of features its banging. But still not good enough for what im looking to do with a laptop.
The inspiron 1525 could have been the right laptop for me and my meager budget. But it's poor graphics capabilities make it useless to me and my sons.
The dell inspiron 1525 was my first laptop purchase. Cheap and good performance for the price. But it hasn't much power.
Has anyone succeed in using the HDMI port on this laptop? I haven't and would like to hear beyond the feature reviewers. The manual is not very helpful in diagnosing the problem and Dell Support is legendary...
I have successfully used the HDMI port however it stopped working after a few weeks. They had to replace the whole motherboard as the port is not very durable and can get damaged easily. It has stopped working for me again, its great having it on the laptop its a shame they didn't make it more durable!
