SIERRA WIRELESS AIRCARD 402

You might not know this, but there are people who need a Wireless card that will play nicely with both PC Card and ExpressCard slots.

Sierra Wireless has taken that into consideration and released their AirCard 402. The 2-in-1 device allows you to operate on EV-DO Rev A. Networks and get downloads as high as 3.1Mbps and uploads as high as 1.8MBps.

The device also sports TRU-Locate GPS that accurately pinpoints your exact location which is good if you happen to be running from the cops.

No release date or price but CTIA is coming up this week so we just might see it there.

OCZ DIY NEUTRINO NETBOOK BECOMES OFFICIAL

Remember a few weeks back we discussed that netbook from OCZ that was a basic DIY model? Well said netbook has become official and now allows users to build their own netbook which is kinda cool seeing that most of what is around is getting a little boring.

The DIY model comes with a 10.1 inch 1024 x 600 LED-backlit display, Intel 845GSE chipset, 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, twin stereo speakers, VGA output, Ethernet, 2x USB 2.0 drives, 1.3 megapixel Webcam, WiFi, 4-cell battery, missing hard drive as well as RAM and O.S.

Of course OCZ expects you to put that in so we can't fault them....and seeing that the price is only $269 we wouldn't complain too much.

So what you say? Ready to build yourself one?

NETBOOK LINE DILUTING THANKS TO ACER?

We knew it was inevitable that netbooks would merge with laptops somewhere down the road as the cost to produce these systems keeps going down. But we were not sure how fast until we heard about Acer's plan to bring the Aspire One Pro to the market.

The device is said to carry an Atom processor (which is not that bad when you consider Window's 7 plays nicely with Atom), and more importantly will come with options for HDD and SSD as well as a more industrial design geared to business users.

Say what you will but the hand writing is on the wall for our beloved netbooks. So hang onto them while you can.

I got this netbook for class to take notes. I wanted something lightweight and easy, and that's exactly what I got! The battery even lasts through my 3-hour lectures. I do turn the brightness down though.

This HP mini 1010NR has a great keyboard. It's bigger than seems bigger than the other netbooks that I have ever looked at and easy to type on. The screen is bright, and size of the screen is great if you have good vision. The webcam is so sharp. The mouse pad has cool scrolling dots. The battery even lasts for 3-hours.

It's fast and mobile and has now become my main computer.

I was trying to decide between this laptop and the Acer inspire one. I really like this netbook the keyboard seems bigger than the other netbooks that I looked at and the screen is a great size if you have good vision. I would say that the only reason to get the Acer is if you need more hard drive space. Just remember that the SSD or solid state hard drive wont break if you drop it like a regular hard drive in the acer, plus SSD is faster. I would say the other main reason I chose the HP over the Acer is that i feel safer with an HP product, especially if something goes wrong with it.

It is absolutely suitable for you to get the HP mini 1010NR to make notes on your business or your class. We need something lightweight and easy to get everything simple in this era, and that is why the HP 1010NR had been created.

GET $200 OFF WHITE MACBOOK

If you don't mind sporting around last years MacBook and saving a good $200 on a system that is on par (spec wise) with this years model then you might be able to deal with Micro Center who is offering a White MacBook with Intel Core 2 Duo Processor (2.0GHz), 2GB of DDR2 RAM (sorry not DDR3), 120GB hard drive, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics, AirPort Extreme with 802.11n Wireless Network, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, Mac OS v10.5 Leopard running the show and yes that's about it.

BTW the rebate is mail in so don't get your hopes built up but we would say risk it and see. You can always dispute later.

OPTICAL DRIVE IS TRULY Eee PC BOUND

Well, seems like the unreliable DigiTimes was reliable after all. Said source had predicted that Asus would be bringing optical drives to the 1004DN netbook series and Asus has now officially confirmed it.

Other then the availability of the Super-Multi DVD writer, you also get the usual 1.66GHZ Atom N280 processor and 120GB of storage as well as fingerprint scanner.

No price and release date but lets hope that comes soon as well as some battery information.

WINDOW'S 7 STARTER EDITION MIGHT BRING SUB $200 NETBOOKS

There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the different versions of Window's 7 that will be making their way to store shelves in the coming months.

But what is most notable is the fact that Microsoft sees Window's 7 Starter Edition being able to replace the Linux-based netbooks which are cheaper then XP versions but still sell far way less then their Window's XP counterparts.

More importantly this could lead the way for Window's netbooks to sell in the sub $200 region and more importantly bring them to developing worlds. Microsoft is working with OEM to clean up the system tray as well as make other accommodations so Window's 7 will work perfectly on the little forgotten netbooks.

Feeling anything yet Mac and Linux?

720P LCD NOW AN OPTION ON MINI 10

If you've been holding out on the Dell Mini 19 because of its lack of 720p resolution screen, then we're glad to say your wait is over. For just $35 you can upgrade that 1024 x 576 resolution to the better 1366 x 768.

There is still no TV tuner or GPS, but at least that screen looks a bit more acceptable seeing that other's have been doing it for some time.

So what's you take on it? Any more interested in getting yourself one? Or are you satisfied with your Aspire One?

MINI DISPLAYPORT TO HDMI AVAILABLE FOR $20

Remember how Apple took off those stupid licensing fees off its Mini DisplayPort to open up development for said standard?

Well now thanks to Monoprice you can get a cool adapter that will do the work of converting your worthless Mini DisplayPort into DVI, HDMI or VGA. If you're wondering about the price, we have to say its quite reasonable at only $15-$20.

Now only if Apple would allow Blu-Ray on their systems, that would be the icing on the cake. I guess we're stuck with NetFlix HD streaming for now.

BTW you can get it HERE!

UMID M1 GETS VIDEO DEMO

We're going to be pretty quick with this one. Turns out that the UMID mBook M1 has gotten a little video demo all its own. You might remember that said HSDPA support device was not getting a US release date.

ANyway's before you watch the video remember that we're dealing with a device that weighs only 0.7 pounds, WiMAX / HSDPA / WiFi / WiBro, 32GB SSD, 1GB of RAM, Bluetooth, 1.3 megapixel camera, USB 2.0, and SD/USIM card.

Now you may view the video below.

TOUCHSCREEN BASED CUPC-P80 UMPC

This is a mobile computer so fear not. What it does is still left to be understood as Comfile Technology is not 100% sure. From what it looks like though, the device will be used to control media like inside a home theater or vehicle.

Said device sports a 500MHz AMD Geode LX800 processor which isn't that powerful. It also sports a 10.2 inch display and 512 of RAM as well as Ethernet, 4GB of flash memory, three USB 2.0 ports and the good old SD socket and WIndow's XP running the show.

Without an OS you can pick on up for $699. With the OS be willing to spend $849. Nah we're not impressed either.

MORE WINDOW'S 7 NEWS COMES TO LIGHT

Microsoft is not being too hush about its Window's 7 and now it has officially unveiled its Window's 7 logo program. Basiclaly the logo will work similar to the Window's Vista Capable stickers that they were sued for.

In any case it will allow users to find systems that are compatable with Window's 7 even if they do not currently run them.

More importantly free support for XP is ending in May so we're seeing the hand writing on the wall for Vista and XP within a few months. It was nice knowning both of you. But we guess we had better move on by now.

THE MACBOOK NETBOOK?

Yes! We know that this is might be fake as well as it could be real. Either way the possibility of a MacBook netbook has been floating around for some time. So what might such a netbook carry?

• 10.4" WXGA display.
• 1280 x 768 pixel with LED backlighting.
NVIDIA MCP79
• Intel Atom Z740 1.83GHz with 1MB L2 cache.
• 2GB DDR3-800.
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
• 64GB Solid State Drive.
Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n
• 1 x USB 2.0
• 1 x Mini Display Port
• Battery Li-Ion 5100mA

The information comes to us VIA 9to5 and according to said source this system should arrive sometime this year for $899. Yeah, fat chance but we still like the idea of it. What do ya think?

NEW DELL LATITUDE 2100 LEAKED

Don't you just love the fact that there are workers who are willing to risk being fired in order to leak some juicy tech gossip?

Well a tipster from Dell has just told us of an upcoming netbook dubbed the Latitude 2100. Said netbook will have the usual 10-inch display as well as 1.6aGHz Atom processor, up to 2GB of RAM, three USB 2.0 ports, optional SSD, SD/MMC slot, Ethernet, 802.11a/b/n, Bluetooth, 3 or 6 cell battery options and the possibility of a touchscreen.

As you can see the netbook comes in a variety of colors but we can't help but wonder if that touchscreen business has anything to do with the imminent launch of Window's 7?

SAMSUNG N310 GETS VIDEO HANDS ON

Remember that Atom N270 packing netbook that we talked about last week that debuted from Samsung? Well said netbook has gotten its proper video dissection and its not half as bad as we thought.

Among the cool features is user accessible RAM, 160GB hard drive and a bunch of colors that is bound to keep you covered. But enough of the talking. Check the video below for the full run down.

IRIVER D50N MID FINALLY COMING

This is the first time the name iriver has graced this blog, and good for reasons, because until now they only made a couple of MP3 players and PMP's that (while sexy) didn't garner any attention. But thanks to that cool MID D50N e-dictionary that they unveiled back in January at CES, we're totally using their name.

Said device is coming with 800 x 480 resolution display (4.8 inch screen), 16GB internal storage space, 802.11b/g WiFi as well as a full QWERTY keyboard microSD and a battery that will last for 16 hours of music playback and 8 hours of video playback.

The price is set at $370 but we're not sure if its coming to the U.S as the official website is only in Korean for now.

NVIDIA MIGHT BE SHACKING UP WITH VIA

There is a reason why we bring you so much news related to tech companies. They are the ones that shape the computers you get tomorrow so it is with great anticipation that we announce that NVIDIA is in the processes of purchasing a large stake in the company VIA.

That would work out to 300 million new shares each priced between $0.35 USD. Basically $81-105 million. It hasn't been confirmed yet so don't bring out the party favors just yet. But seeing how both companies have been cozyign up especially involving NVIDIA's forthcoming Ion platform we'd say you could start holding your breath...

ACER ASPIRE ONE AOA150-1447 QUICK REVIEW

Acer Aspire One AOA150-1447 - The latest addition

Acer’s latest addition to the Aspire One series, AOA150-1147, has hit the markets. This model comes in an attractive Sapphire Blue. Weighing in at just 2.2 lb., this ultraportable netbook is aimed at travelers, business professionals and students.

Let’s look at the specifications to see what it has to offer. A 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor N270 with 1 GB RAM and 160GB HDD form the core specs. In terms of the processor you have to admit, there’s not much difference here to provide it an edge over competition. But, you have to keep in mind that all netbooks currently in the market have pretty much the same on offer. And if you take a closer look, you’ll have noticed that this unit comes with 160GB storage, which when combined with its performance could very well allow it to take the place of a regular laptop! Windows XP Home edition comes installed and I’m sure most users out there will be happy to work with a familiar OS. Acer InviLink 802. 11b/g wireless LAN and Crystal Eye web cam with integrated digital microphone, complete the list of specs.

The 8.9 – inch LED back lit WSVGA display comes with a native resolution of 1024 x 600 and Acer’s familiar CrystalBrite Technology. The screen provides good angular visibility and brightness, though it tends to be a finger print magnet.

Though Acer seems to have done its best to minimize “fat finger” issues, the 84 key keyboard can only accommodate the hunt and peck style. The touchpad comes with two buttons that provide good response without being oversensitive.

On the sides are three USB ports, the headphone jack, the microphone jack, a DC in and an RJ-45 LAN port. Card slots include an SD Card Reader and Multi-in-one Card Reader.

The built in speakers provide reasonably good sound quality, but don’t expect them to bring the house down.

The laptop runs cool and the fan, when it kicks in, is quiet. The six-cell batteries ensure over five hours of usage which is a definite plus.

At a glance then the pros and cons of this unit are:

Pros:

Compact and portable
Hard Drive capacity
Good battery life
Quality of build

Cons:

No Bluetooth
No CD/DVD drive

All things considered, Acer has undoubtedly come up with a winner! With a starting price of $325, you couldn’t get a better deal, especially keeping in mind the storage available.

Price: Approx. $350

MAINGEAR MX-L 13.3-INCH LAPTOP

No, we have never heard of this company before so don't ask us who they are. But we do know that they will be releasing a an ultra-portable laptop shortly.

Said device is set to come with a the option for 160GB Intel X25-M SSD or 500GB hard drive, dual-layer Blu-Ray drive, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, VGA out, three USB 2.0 ports, 13.3 LED-backlit display with 1280 x 800 resolution, Core 2 Duo CPU, GMA X4500HD graphics, 8GB of DDR2 RAM and a price tag starting at $1099.99.

We stocked except for that four cell battery that four cell battery but I guess we can't complain since the system weighs only 4.4 pounds.

ARCHOS ANDROID BASED MID MIGHT BE COMING IN JULY

We've known for quite some time that Android was coming to an Archos had set in the near future, we just didn't know when. So far though we have not gotten a release date until now that is.

Seems like the company is planning to release said device "at the start of Q3 2009." As for what will be packing the device, that is yet to be said and all we know is that it will be coming with a bunch of multimedia applications  as well as some telephony features.

Anyone interested?

KOHIKINSHA ML6 NETBOOKS

This one is just coming out but apparently the company that goes by the name of Kohijinsha has let loose some new netbooks that carry 8.9 inch displays.

Said systems also sport 1024 x 600 resolution displays as well as WiFi, 160GB hard drives, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor and of course Window's XP as the OS of source.

We hear the battery is good for 4.7 hours and will cost ¥38,900 ($393) when it hits Japan. We're guessing the premium is for the colors and ExpressCard slots. BTW said colors are coming in blue, gold, pink, white, black and a few others.

HP BRINGING OUT 16-INCH AMD DV6Z LAPTOP

Seems like HP has been showing AMD some love lately. From what we've been hearing HP is set to release an AMD variant of its 16-inch dv6t laptop that will start below $600, ($599.99 to be exact). More importantly is the fact that there will be a coupon that will knock off an additional $30 at launch with the option of a new HP DeskJet printer.

Specs wise, we're not too sure but we're hearing it will come with 4GB of RAM, 320GB HDD and that's it. A release date is set for the 29'th of this month, at least that is what I saw in Wal-Mart today so we'll have to see.

We'd love to give you more details on this but so far this is all we got.

SAMSUNG NC310 GETS PRICE

SAMSUNG NC310Oh well, this didn't take too long. Seems like the price for that netbook we talked about a few ago will be going for $577 USD. The expected launch date for said netbook will be May and we're hearing that it will be available in black and blue.

We're not sure about you but we're digging the style of this little beast here. Seems like it can hold itself pretty well against the likes of Voodoo, Sony and Apple. And those spaced keys (while controversial) are a charm to us.

So whose up for one? $577 sounds too much? BTW we're not hearing about a release around these here parts (U.S) but you're welcome to go the eBay route so you should desire.

SAMSUNG NC310 GETS 11-HOUR BATTERY LIFE?

Make of this what you will but Samsung is claiming that their new netbook can get 11-hours of battery life. The netbook they're talking about is the NC310 which comes with the standard configurations you would expect on a netbook such as 1GB DDR2 RAM, 160GB HDD, 10.1-inch LCD screen, 802.11b/g WiFi, 1.3 megapixel camera, HSDPA data, WiBRO which is nothing more then mobile WiMAX and that 11-hour battery you read in the title of this post.

No name on the price or what type of processor is running the show but we're guessing its either an Atom processor or maybe something else like Ion? Fat chance.

SAMSUNG N110 ANNOUNCED

Ah well, what do we have here? Samsung has named a successor to its NC10 netbook. Named the N110, this netbook comes with an N270 1.6GHz Atom Processor, the same memory and storage found on the NC10 as well as a cool refinish and a battery topping eight hours in real world usage.

Best of all is the price which is currently set at $469. So the question we ask is if this is good enough for you guys or are you holding out until the NC20? No we won't bias your mind but we hear good things come to those who wait.

SAMSUNG N120 NETBOOK WALKS ITSELF ROM THE EAST

Ah, what do we have here? A 10.1-inch netbook that comes a 12.1 inch keyboard, 3-1 card reader, 3 USB 2.0 ports, 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth option, Atom processor, XP OS and a 6 cell battery that gives 10.5 hours of battery life.

Samsung has really been churning out those netbooks and this one seems to offer something most netbooks don't offer, a better keyboard. So far Samsung is not saying what they will require of you to own one or when those in the states will be able to get their hands on it but we do know that Europe will have this in April as well as the just announced N110.

So you buying?

DURABOOK AND TOUGHBOOK TAKE THE BEATING OF THEIR LIVES ON VIDEO

We're sure this won't appeal to everyone, but if you are interested in checking out what Durabook and Panasonic's Toughbook can handle then you might want to check out the videos we have included below as well as check out an indepth review of the whole thing.

For one both notebooks are not for everyone and most naturally the average user will not like th thickness of the notebooks (3" in some places), but durability is there. They can be dropped, stepped on, sprayed with water and just about anything else you can throw at them.

So if you want to check out what they can take check out the video below and head HERE for a full review.

ASUS CONCEPT FOLD/UNFOLD LAPTOP COMING LATER THIS YEAR

If it had been any other source other then the VP or CEO himself we would have said take this with huge grains of salt. Anyways that cool Origami inspired laptop design from Asus is actually coming.

That is according to Asus CEO Jerry Shen. What is more interesting is that he actually gives a launch date (period to be exact) as well as the median price for said notebook.

According to Jerry the Fold/Unfold laptop will be around for the holiday season (September or October 2009) and will fall within the $1000 to $1500 price range.

We're not saying anything but believe you me, this is something to hold Jerry's feet to the fire about. Its about time we see some radical change in the laptop industry. Laptops without removable batteries and ultra-portables so thin they can give you a hair cut are not gonna cut it. (No offense to you Apple).

AS SUSPECTED DELL ADAMO HAS NON-USER REPLACEABLE BATTERY

This just sucks, turns out that Dell's new Adamo does not carry a user replaceable battery. So as you can guess that means that if you should happen to have the charging power of your battery completely die on you, then you will be required to send your prized Adamo to some service center miles away to have them take care of it.

Your guess is as good as ours involving pricing though but who wants to bet that it'll cost more then $175 to replace (the price to replace the MacBook Pro 17-inch battery)?

MAC MINI DISPLAY PORT PICKING UP GROUND

Here is something a few other computer manufacturers could learn. When you take off licensing fees people develop more for your product. Apple has learned that with their new initiative to make DisplayPort more accepted.

So far it has seen good results with companies like Apogee saying hat they are working on a bunch off cool new interfaces that will use said technology and Monoprice releasing their MDP-to HDMI adapter. Sounds pretty good especially for me.

We'll just have to see how it works when I pick up my Mac next week. What are your thoughts?

Eee GETTING VOICE CONTROL BY YEAR'S END

Jerry Shen s at it again. This time the CEO of Asus (the netbook inventor), claims that we will see voice control in the Asus Eee PC line by years end.

According to Jerry we will be able to see the fruits of this labor sometime between Q3 and Q4. More importantly we're hearing that they are working with third parties to make this possible.

So first it was touchscreen and now its voice recognition. Is it just me or does it seem like Asus wants the Eee PC line to be the little train that could?

LG GIVES X120 A RELEASE DATE

Well LG is finally telling us when we'll be able to max our credit cards on their new netbook dubbed the X120. Said netbook features a 1.6GHz Atom processor, WSVGA display 10-inch display, 160GB , 1GB DDR2 RAM, Window's XP and an LG Smart On OS which allows you to do whatever you want quickly without using he Window's environment.

As for the release time, LG says it will be shipping to Japan later this month and to Europe and 20 other countries the following month.

And before you begin to kill yourself with wondering, NO, LG did not say whether U.S is included in the other 20 countries. But it might be a good time to start saving those pennies from now, be prepared you know.

GOOGLE CHROME BROWSER MOST SECURE SO FAR?

Not everyone is into bling (we'll admit), an you might be overwhelmed by the large amount of browsers on the market.

That said, it is well to note that Chrome did withstand the first day of that hacking competition known as Pwn20wn. While we're sure it will fall in he second round when hackers will be allowed to use plugins and such to complete their task, it did stand up thanks to something called "sandbox."

We're not sure if this has anything to do with the fact that the browser might just be blinding people or it could be that no one is interested in hacking a browser that only 1% of PC owners use. Either way its much better then Safari which was cracked and hacked in less then 10 seconds.

Have something to say on this Apple, or is thisalso AT&T's fault? (sorry coldn't resist).

BALLMER RIPS APPLE ON $500 PREMIUM FOR "APPLE LOGO"

Emboldened by the news yesterday that Apple sales fell a full 16% last year, mainly due to the global financial crisis, Steve has a few words to say to said company.

According to Steve the "tide has turned" and people are not interested in paying an extra $500 for a notebook that does right about the same as a Window's laptop.

What we're guessing Steve is not saying is that people actually buy Apple computers for more then that beautiful bitten Apple logo that graces their devices. Either way we kinda have to agree with him that the premium on an Apple computer is quite exorbitant.

But some would say its better then being stuck with Vista. Either way we'll see how this plays out.

Many times you may have heard of many rumours that Acer is going to produce larger Netbooks or Laptops. But this time it’s not one of those rumours. WINDOW'S 7 ALLOWS LOGIN BACKGROUND TO BE CHANGED

We've had our fair share of fun with Window's 7 beta so far, and we're not going to boast about it but think it might bring some serious competition to you know who. That said, We have just come to learn that Microsoft will allow you to hange the login background of Window's 7.

But that is not enough to blog about so we decided to talk about some of the other things we like such as the improvement of Window's Explorer multi touch as well as Aero Peek for touch which allows you to drag your finger across the taskbar and it will trigger said feature.

The taskbar has been vastly improved an this is not something to take lightly as Window's 7 is all about multi touch and the previous taskbar didn't do justice to it. Thanks to the new option fo icons only in the taskbar you can have everything down there without the need to expand the taskbars size.

INTEL SIMD TO BOOS GRAPHICS OF MID

Seems like everyone is catching on that graphics are essential to performance, even if its a stupid MID. That said, Intel is saying that they will be releasing an SMID (single instruction multiple data) module that promises to boost the performance of MID graphic wise as well as power wise.

Basically the SMID works by executing multiple computing instructions at once while allowing onscreen graphics to be "done faster."

We're not haring a release date or anything else from Intel. But they are saying it will be available within time for their "future Intel products."

Oh well we'll have to see what oQo thinks of this.

HP UPDATES PAVILION DV4T

Ever since the original dv4t came out I have fell in love with it, mainly because of its affordability and also because my brother happens to have one which he scored a great deal on last year (Black Friday).

That said, HP has decided to update the systems specs with a few well needed features that makes the system a lot more appealing/tempting.

Other then the new paint job options you can also have the option WWAN from Verizon or AT&T, 500GB HDD, LED-backlit display and NVIDIA GeForce G 105M (512MB) graphics card as well as integrated HDTV tuner, Blu-Ray options and a bigger battery (12-cell).

The last two can bring the system to some very nice money figures but the rest is pretty standard and sounds quite interesting. Now only if we could get 4GB of DDR3 RAM instead of the 4GB of DDR2.

TURN YOUR COMPUTER INTO A TABLET FOR JUST $104

If you are part of the masses who would like to be able to doodle every once in a while on your screen and you don't have enough money to pay for a tablet system, then you might be interested in this new tech that can be yours for just $104.

Hanwah has developed a new digital pen that allows you to make inputs (pen inputs) into your laptop by just attaching an infared and ultrasonic magic reciever to the top of the laptop. The movements are picked up by said reciever and then transferred to the screen.

While not perfect for those who need something that carries native touch support, it does seem pretty nice if you are looking for a cool gadget to try out and have $100 under your couch.

Check HERE for more details!

BTW said device is not limited to your screen alone and can easily be placed on a desk or table and capture the actual ink writings of the included pen. Pretty neat huh?

DELL LAUNCHES NEW LINE OF ULTRA-THIN, HIGH-END LAPTOPS

For those of you who thought that laptops coming from Dell’s production house are always those old fashioned kinds, then its time you change your opinion about the same.

To keep up with competitors in the retail market, Dell has come up with a series of Ultra-Thin, High-End Laptops which can give their competitors a run for their money. The recent economic slowdown hasn’t stopped Dell from manufacturing laptops that would cater to the needs to the modern laptop user.

This new line of high-end laptops from Dell comes under the brand name of Adamo which is intended for the luxury conscious consumer. Adamo comes at a staring price of $1,999 and is supposed to be the slimmest netbook in the market with a thickness of 0.65 inches. The Adamo series will have only the Dell and Adamo logos on the outside of the netbook and will not advertise the operating system and processors incorporated with the netbook. To design exclusive laptop bags for Adamo line of netbooks, Dell has roped in fashion brand Tumi.

In addition to the latest from Dell like the Inspiron, Mini 9 and Mini 10 netbooks, Dell considers the introduction of Adamo as the zenith of its laptop design efforts.

FREECOM TOUGHDRIVE IS EXTERNAL HDD

We're not sure what to make of this seeing the device is a HDD and that doesn't necessarily play well with drops. But Freecom thinks there are enough people out there who would like a wicked looking external hard drive that can store enough objectionable content from the ever so watchful eyes of those above you.

Said drive comes in 250GB, 332GB and 500GB editions and includes 256 bit HD5 encription to protect your content from anyone who would like to enjoy what you have with one hand only (enough said).

The dries are PC-only so no worries about would be Mac hackers and can resist damage if dropped from hights of up to two meters. Price is set at $219 for the 500GB version so we're not exactly complaining here, but we wish we could see an SSD version of this to go along with our Toghbook.

GENERL DYNAMICS INTRONIX GD8000 NOTEBOOK DROPS ITSELF

Ah the total awesomeness of the rugged notebook and the complete lack of sense for those who think its sexy. We're not saying we don't envy the Panasonic Toughbook but we think we'll make do with our Mac encrusted in a steel shell for now.

Anyways General Dynamics is back at it again with their new GD8000. Said notebook carries a Core 2 Duo SL9400 processor, 4GB of RAM, GMA 45ooMHD graphics as well as 120GB storage and a 13.3 inch screen that sports DynaVue sunlight-readable touchscreen display.

Other things includes a fingerprint reader, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth (optional), Gobi 2000 WWAN module and can withstand a drop from 42 inches, 30 gallons of water at 40mph and operates between -22 degrees F to 140 degrees F.

You likey?

MICROSOFT IE8 TO BE RELEASED AT 12:00 -5 GMT TODAY

It seems like Microsoft thinks IE8 is ready for the fight of its life. So happens that Redmond is planning to release Internet Explorer 8 today in New York for the masses. You might not like said browser but its a known fact that your IT department does so you had better get familiar with it. We'll have a review coming next week after we have put the browser through its paces.

Until then feel free to continue using your beloved FireFox, Opera, Safari and we might add Chrome if you're into the bling stuff.

And yes we know this is not terribly exciting news but still deserve its fair share of the spotlight.

SUPER TALENT ULTRADRIVE SSD

You're probably wondering why we're talking about another SSD. Well we could give you a lot of reasons in terms of its strength and coolness, but you probably wouldn't be interested in that now would you? So we decided to just talk about its affordability.

Said drive comes in 32, 64, 128 and 256 GB flavors. This one covers the ME edition which begin shipping today. The LE comes in 32, 64 and 128 flavors. The difference between the ME and LE is the write speed. The former can handle 170MB/sec while the latter can hndle 230MB/ sec.

Now as for the prices. You can pick up the ME versions for $128 (32GB), $205 (64GB), $379 (128GB) and $645 (256GB).

No word on pricing for the LE version but the former can be seen HERE.

DO NOT TRADE THAT LAPTOP!

I think its long overdue for me to give some practical advice about laptops instead of the reviews and news I've been doing lately so today I want to discuss a little known thing called the trade-in program.

Basically, many laptop manufacturers and retailers allow you to trade in your old laptop for a new one or as they call it upgrade.

DO NOT FALL FOR IT! If you trade in a 3 year old notebook the most you can generally get for it is 100-300 depending on make and build. If you were to sell that same laptop on eBay or any other place you could double or even triple that.

Another reason why you should not is its about time you learn how to fix your notebook. What happens when your warranty runs out? You're going to pay a couple hundreds to have the screen or hard drive replaced when you could buy the parts and DIY. Now if you're not sure how to do it there is not better way to learn then practice.

Get yourself a good A+ certification book and check out the chapters dealing with laptop repair. Even if you don't plan to go in the field you might be looking at a job promotion if you can save your company money by repairing their systems instead of them having to go out and buy new ones.

And even if you cannot be bothered with it I am sure it would be better to donate it to charity. Not only will you have a peace of mind you are helping someone but you can also get tax writes off for it depending on where you live and who you are.

WHAT WINDOW'S WILL LOOK LIKE "TOMORROW"

And by tomorrow we mean in the future. Anyways Gizmodo and Lifehacker had a cool little thing going where people would make cool desktops for their Window's environment. While we've always been a sucker for the Mac desktop we can't help but notice Window's new version (7) and now all these cool mods that we see popping up.

If you'd like to take a look at a few more fail not to check out the LINK below.

MOTION J3400 RUGGED TABLET PC DEMOED ON VIDEO

We're going to be short here because we're sure you're dying to get to the video. The tablet PC you're about to see demoed on video is from Motion and comes with a 2 megapixel camera, GPS, biometric sensor, Bluetooth 2.1, Qualcomm's dual-mode Gobi WWAN, Wifi, 1.8-inch shock-mounted HDD or a 64GB SSD option.

Now that we have finished giving you the details, check out the video below.

DELL OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCES THE ADAMO NOTEBOOK

We'll warn you, don't get too excited about this one unless the recession is not hitting you. Anyways, Dell has just announced their 13.4-inch Adamo notebook. If you remember, said model was pranced around on stage at CES but a paper thin model (human) before being whisked away and sent backstage where some geeks were able to shoot some pics of it.

The system comes in an aluminum case with a 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo U9300 with Intel X4500 graphics. You get 2GB of RAM, 128GB SSD and yes its one pound heavier then the MacBook Air. Come on Dell.

Even more frustrating is the price which Dell has notified us will clock in at $1,999. Whatever Dell has to say we sure as hell are not interested in paying such a price for a magnetic cover notebook. But Dell seems to think the price is still cheap as it has a 4GB RAM model with 1.4GHz Intel Duo 2 Processor along with built in 3G card for $700 more?

We're sure AIG executives will love this one....They would right?

MSI WIND U110 ECO SPECS REVEALED...SORT OF1

From what we originally heard it seemed that the new MSI Wind would be packing some ATI Mobility Radeon HD3200 power. But after the ever so careful eyes of many pointed out that it was a typo we are left with the following specs.

Atom 1.6GHz Z530 processor, GMA 500 graphic chipset and according to MSI, a 9-hour battery life. Yeah we know quite hard to believe and a lot less exciting when this appears to be just another netbook on the market. Oh how we yearn for thee oh Ion platform!

Enough of the bull. Start saving your pennies kids. And if you do have them saved you might be interested in Dell's Adamo notebook which is set to take on the Envy 113 and MacBook Air.

LENOVO LEAKS YOGA NETBOOK PICS

You might remember that a day or two ago we covered a story leaked by Engadget of a mystery netbook from Lenovo. Well said netbook turns out to be a design concept.

You might remember that the device was leaked from Lenovo's Beijing plant. More importantly we were wondering why it was not at CeBIT or CES. Well as we said before its just a design concept and it doesn't appear that Lenovo has any plans of releasing said netbook any time soon as all they have told us about the netbook is how good it looks including that nice convertible design and touch screen capabilities (yes you read right).

But we will guess that if this ever makes it to market it would be running either Atom or Ion (fat chance), carry 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 8-16GB SSD and maybe a few tiny ports that would be a pain in the ass to use.

Feel free to check out more picks at the URL below.
