Gateway’s newly unveiled EC14D sports something you wouldn’t normally find in an ultraportable laptop – a built-in DVD drive. The laptop is expected to start shipping by the end of January.
The Gateway EC14D is equipped with an 11.6 inch HD widescreen LED-backlit display with 1366 x 768 pixels. It is powered by a 1.3GHz Intel Pentium SU4100 ULV processor. The notebook runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Up to 8GB of RAM can be installed. For storage there is a 320GB 5400rpm SATA hard drive. No discrete GPUs – Graphics is handled by the GMA 4500MHD.
The touchpad recognizes multi-touch gestures. Other features include Ethernet, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, built-in webcam, multi-in-1 media card reader and HDMI. There are 3 USB ports.
The EC14D will ship with a 6 cell, 5600mAh battery. Prices start at $629.99.
