OLPC XO 1.5 LAPTOP HITS FCC

The OLPC has filed documents with FCC related to its XO 1.5 laptop. The XO 1.5 is an update to the original XO laptop. While the XO laptop had an AMD Geode processor, the XO 1.5 sports a relatively faster VIA C7-M processor.

Documents filed with FCC indicate that the notebook will support Wi-Fi 802.11b/g. Other specifications include 1GB of RAM and a 4GB of flash storage. The graphics solution is the integrated VIA Chrome9 graphics.

The OLPC XO laptop is meant for poor students in the developing world. OLPC has no intention of selling it directly to customers at retail. The FCC filing, nevertheless, indicates that the machine will be available in the US as well but not necessarily in its original form.
