Asus hasn’t started shipping its Eee PC T101MT yet, but some reviewers have got to lay their hands on a demo unit. The first impressions are mixed. While reviewers are happy that Asus has used a relatively faster 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor on T101MT instead of the sluggish Atom Z520 found in the 9 inch Eee PC T91MT, they aren’t particularly impressed with the overall performance.
The computer in their words feels rather sluggish. But this is hardly surprising, because Atom processors are never known to be speedy. And there is nothing to assume that the Eee PC T101MT is slower than other Atom powered netbooks.
As for build quality, well, it appears satisfactory. The hard drive seems to be a little noisy. The touchscreen on the demo unit also isn’t very precise near the edge of the display. But these issues could get solved by the time the netbook starts shipping.
The Eee PC T101MT is a 10 inch tablet style netbook from Asus. It runs Windows 7 Home Premium. Other specifications include WiFi 802.11b/g/n, up to 2GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive.
