ACER LAUNCHES EBOOK READER, TEASES WITH A TABLET

Acer introduced two very similar looking devices this week. One of them is an eBook reader with a 6-inch E-ink display. The other is a 7-inch Android-based tablet PC featuring a full color display.

The tablet appears to have a QWERTY keyboard below the touchscreen display. Acer CEO said that it is due out in the fourth quarter of this year. Few details are available at the moment, but the tablet appears to have a 3G modem as Acer plans to sell it through wireless carriers.

The Acer LumiRead eBook reader will be released in the third quarter of 2010. It will have access to the books from the Barnes and Noble eBook store. Other features include 2GB of storage and a microSD card slot for expansion. Like the tablet, eBook reader also has a QWERTY keyboard below the display. There are also buttons for turning the pages.
