LENOVO SKYLIGHT TO GET FASTER SNAPDRAGON PROCESSORS

Lenovo first showed off its Skylight smartbook at CES early this year.Back then, the prototype device featured a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a Custom Linux distribution called Skylight. Lenovo put the smartbook on hold after a few months due to some reasons. It was eventually revived and Lenovo said that the company would use Google Android instead of the custom Linux OS. And now it is being said that Lenovo also plans to use a faster 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor, instead of the 1GHz chip the prototype featured. But since these processors won't be available until later this year, the Skylight won't hit the streets anytime soon.

In related news, Toshiba which unveiled its first smartbook last week is also working on two ARM-based tablets. These machines are also due out before the end of this year. The Toshiba tablets are reportedly being built by Taiwanese OEM Pegatron.
