The BlackBerry PlayBook measures less than half an inch in thickness and weigh 0.9 pounds. It has a 7-inch multi-touch capacitive display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. The tablet runs the QNX-based BlackBerry Tablet OS with support for multitasking. It is also compatible with BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

RIM's tablet supports HTML5 and Adobe Flash Player 10.1. It is also capable of playing 1080p HD video. Users will be able to connect the tablet to a BlackBerry smartphone via a Bluetooth connection. As a result of this they will be able to access their smartphone data on the larger display of the tablet. The PlayBook will also be able to access 3G mobile broadband networks through the existing BlackBerry smartphone service plans. It also has integrated WiFi, Bluetooth, embedded 3G and 4G connectivity.
The BlackBerry PlayBook is powered by a 1GHz ARM dual core processor with 1GB of RAM. It will be available in two models - one with 32GB storage and the other with 64GB storage. Other specifications include a front facing 3MP camera, a rear facing 5MP camera, microUSB ports and a microHDMI port.
Availability
The BlackBerry PlayBook is expected to hit the US market in early 2011.
