ASUS EEE PAD TRANSFORMER TO SHIP WITH ANDROID HONEYCOMB

Asus showed off a version of the Eee Pad Transformer running Android 3.0 at CeBIT in Germany yesterday. When the company showed off the tablet at CES in January, it was running an earlier version of Android with a custom user interface.

The tablet now features the Honeycomb web browser with support for tabs. There is also a new taskbar at the bottom of the screen, as well as new home screen widgets. The Eee Pad Transformer has a detachable keyboard. It also features a finger-friendly on-screen Honeycomb keyboard which is designed for tablets with 10 inch displays.

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer has a 10.1 inch capacitive IPS touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. It is powered by a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor. Other specifications include 1GB of RAM, up to 64GB of storage, Bluetooth, WiFi, optional 3G and GPS. It comes standard with a 24.4Whr battery and weighs about 1.5 pounds.

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer is expected to hit the market in April. No word on pricing at the moment.
