ARCHOS ANNOUNCES BUDGET-FRIENDLY HONEYCOMB TABLETS

Archos has announced two new Android tablets. The Archos 80 and Archos 101 G9 both run Android 3.1 Honeycomb operating system. They are probably the cheapest Honeycomb tablets we have seen so far.


The Archos 80 has an 8 inch, 1024 x 768 pixels display. It runs $279. The Archos 101 G9 has a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixels display. It starts at $349. Both tablets are expected to hit the streets by the end of September.

The Archos 80 and 101 G9 have 1.5GHz TI OMAP4 dual core processors and a choice of flash storage or hard drive. They have official access to the Google Android Market. Other specifications include 720p front-facing cameras, USB, microSD card slots, HDMI output, GPS, G-Sensor and compass. They also come with built-in kick stands.

Archos says that the tablets will get up to 7 hours of battery life while watching videos.
