Digitimes report that besides the Windows operating system, that model will also have a higher capacity hard drive instead of the 8GB solid state disk found in the MeeGo model. Another possibility is that the Windows model will only be available in Europe where consumer electronics tend to cost more than it does in the US.
ASUS EEE PC X101 COULD SHIP IN JULY
The Asus Eee PC X101 will reportedly start shipping in July. The Eee PC X101 is an ultra-affordable laptop with a low power 1.33Ghz Intel Atom N435 processor. It will be available in two models. The $200 model will run MeeGo Linux which is an open source operating system. There will be a Windows 7 model as well, but it will cost more. Digitimes report that the Windows model will be priced in the range of $310 and $350.That pricing, however, doesn't sound plausible because you can get dual core Atom netbooks for under $300. The Atom N435 is a single core processor with a clock speed of 1.33GHz.
