Verizon has started taking pre-orders for the 4G-enabled version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android tablet. The WiFi-only version of the tablet has been available for a few weeks. The 4G model is for those who seek always-on internet connectivity. Prices start at $529.99.
To get the tablet for $530 you will need to sign up for a 2-year service contract. Data plans for the tablet range between $20 (1GB/month) and $80 (10GB / month). Verizon won't ship the tablet for another 4-6 weeks.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixels display and 16GB of storage. It is powered by a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor. It runs Android 3.1 Honeycomb operating system.
You will be able to use the 4G model virtually everywhere without having to rely on the availability of a WiFi hotspot. On the flip side you will end up spending a minimum of $480 on data plans over the course of the contract. The WiFi-only version, on the other hand, is available for just $499.
