Asus introduced the 10 inch laptop in May. It has a low power 1.33GHz Intel Atom N435 processor, 8GB of SSD storage and a low capacity 3-cell battery. As you can probably see none of these components are high-end. Actually, they were chosen not because they were good but because they were cheap. Asus is also loading the laptop with MeeGo Linux so that they don't have to pay Windows License fee. Needless to say the Eee PC X101 is expected to retail for under $200 in the US. A handful of US retailers have already started taking pre-orders.
Asus will also launch a version of this laptop with Windows operating system and a higher capacity 6-cell battery. It will cost more. It is not clear whether that model will be available in the US.
