ASUS LAUNCHES TOUGH TABLET IN THE US

Asus will soon start offering a semi-rugged Android tablet in Japan. It will be available from the carrier KDDI. There has been no official announcement regarding the Asus Tough ETBW11AA in the western world. So chances are this is going to be exclusively sold in the Japanese market.

The Asus Tough tablet has a 7 inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. It is powered by a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor and runs Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system. The supported connectivity options include WiFi and 4G WiMAX.

The tablet has a water and dust-resistant case and that probably justifies the name ‘Tough’. On the flipside, the rugged features make the tablet a little heavy. It weighs 1.4 pounds and measures 0.9 inches in thickness. With its 7 inch display the Tough tablet is the smallest member of the Asus tablet family. Asus has already launched two tablets with 10 inch displays. The Asus Eee Pad Transformer and Eee Pad Slider are both available in many parts of the world.
