The BlackBerry PlayBook is the company’s first foray into the tablet space. It is a 7 inch device running the BlackBerry Tablet OS. The tablet has a speedy 1GHz dual core processor and a 1024 x 600 pixels capacitive touchscreen display. It is decent tablet with excellent multitasking capabilities. Unfortunately, there aren’t many third party applications it can run at the moment. It also ships without some BlackBerry features like native email, calendar or contact apps.
RIM plans to release software updates sometime soon to solve many of these issues. That could make the tablet more useful. Meanwhile, it looks like RIM has no plans to go the HP way. The company, as of now, has no plans to discontinue the tablet. It has no plans to drop the prices any further either.
