BUY TWO BLACKBERRY PLAYBOOK TABLETS AND GET ONE FREE

RIM is trying every trick in the book to boost the sale of its PlayBook tablet. The company dropped the price of the tablet from $499 to $299 this summer. And now it has launched yet another promotion. Long story short, starting today you can get a PlayBook free if you buy two. Buyers will also be treated with a free accessory like a leather sleeve or HDMI cable. It is not exactly clear how many retailers are participating in the promotion though.


The BlackBerry PlayBook is a decent tablet with excellent multitasking capabilities. It has a 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixels display and a 1GHz TI OMAP 4430 dual core processor. The tablet runs a QNX based operating system. While the hardware is state-of-art, the software is what makes the tablet a hard-sell. There aren’t many third party apps for the QNX OS at the moment. What’s more RIM launched the tablet without even bothering to equip it with the key BlackBerry features such as native contacts, calendar or email apps.

RIM, meanwhile, is soon expected to launch the PlayBook OS 2.0 update which will solve many of the software problems plaguing the tablet.
