ASUS AND SAMSUNG SET TO LAUNCH CEDAR TRAIL NETBOOKS

Although Intel unveiled its Cedar Trail Atom chips this summer, none of the netbooks currently shipping sport this processor. Word is that the new processors have some problems with their graphics drivers. Intel is expected to launch the repaired chips in December. That means Cedar Trail netbooks are unlikely to hit the market in time for the holiday shopping season.


Asus, by the way, will probably be the first company to launch a Cedar Trail netbook. The company has already announced its plans to update its netbook line-up with the new Atom chips. The netbooks that are likely to get the update are the Eee PC R051CX, Eee PC 1011CX, and Eee PC R011CX. Samsung is also expected to launch a Cedar Trail netbook called Samsung N102S.

Cedar Trail Atom processors will offer slightly better performance than the existing Pine Trail processors.
