The Kindle Fire is a 7 inch tablet computer with a 1024 x 600 pixels IPS display. It is powered by a 1GHz TI OMAP4 dual core processor and runs a highly customized version of Google Android 2.3. Unlike most other tablets on the market it doesn’t have cameras or an SD card slot for storage expansion. Instead it comes with 512MB of RAM and 8GB of storage. The tablet ships with the Amazon Appstore instead of the official Android Market.
While the Kindle Fire doesn’t have particularly impressive hardware, it does have many things going for it. For one thing, it is built and sold by the world’s largest retailer. The biggest USP of the tablet, however, is its price tag. While most Android tablets cost more than $400, the Kindle Fire costs just $200.
