7 INCH SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB NOT TO GET ANDROID 4.0 UPDATE

Sony has kind of confirmed that its Tablet S and Tablet P are getting Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade. Neither tablet was all that popular but that didn’t prevent Sony from offering continued support for them.

Samsung, unfortunately, thinks a little bit different. The company has revealed that its Galaxy Tab 7 inch tablet will not be getting the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade. The reason, according to Samsung, is that the device doesn’t have the hardware capabilities necessary to run Android 4.0 alongside Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface.

That explanation, however, seems inconsistent because Samsung’s Nexus S smartphone which has the same hardware has already started getting the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade. So the reason that may be really preventing the upgrade could be Samsung’s custom TouchWiz UI and a host of other resource hungry ‘experience enhancing’ software.
