NOTION INK ADAM TO GET ANDROID 4.0 ICE CREAM SANDWICH UPDATE

Notion Ink is working on bringing the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to its Adam tablet. The India-based startup company has released an early build which anyone can download and test. Right now the new build only supports WiFi, GPS, graphics and some other key functions. No support for Bluetooth, 3G, audio or the camera is available at the moment.

The Notion Ink Adam is a 10 inch Android tablet. It is only available in limited quantities. The tablet had created a quite a buzz last year because it was the first Android tablet to ship with a NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor and Pixel Qi display which is viewable in direct sunlight.

At launch the tablet shipped with a custom user interface called Eden on top of Android. The response to the Eden software has been mixed. While some people liked it, others felt that plain vanilla Android would be much better.

When Adam launched last year, Honeycomb was only available to select partners of Google. And that is probably why Notion Ink decided to develop a custom user interface for the tablet. Now that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is available to all devices Notion Ink is working on bringing it to its tablet.
