LG OPTIMUS PAD CONFIRMED WITH LTE AND 1.5GHZ PROCESSOR

While most device makers launch their devices at CES, LG waited until after CES to launch its Optimus Pad LTE. The 8.9 inch tablet is a successor to its original predecessor called Optimus Pad. It has got a 1280 x 768 pixels IPS display and a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The original model had a 1GHz Tegra 2 processor. And as the name itself suggests the Optimus Pad LTE also supports 4G connectivity for internet access.

Unlike the previous model, the Optimus Pad LTE doesn’t have any 3D capabilities. Nonetheless it has got an 8 megapixel camera on the rear side and a 2 mega pixel camera on the front side. It has also got an HDMI output port for transferring video to an external monitor. The tablet will initially ship with the Android 3.2 operating system. It should get upgraded to Android 4.0 sometime later.

No word on pricing or availability at the moment. The tablet should hit South Korea first and then make its journey towards other parts of the globe. In the US, the original Optimus Pad was sold by T-Mobile under the name G-Slate.
